The gap most warehouses will not fill
Traditional warehouse leases are written in years, and 3PL contracts are usually written around ongoing volume. Neither fits freight that needs to sit for three weeks. Short-term storage exists for exactly that gap: a defined quantity, a rough end date, and no expectation that it becomes a standing account — although it often does, once the immediate problem is solved.
What to have ready
A short-term quote comes together quickly when you know roughly how much is coming, in what form, and how long it needs to stay. Pallet counts, dimensions, and whether the freight is floor-loaded or already palletized will settle most of it. If some of that is still unknown, an estimate from the numbers you do have is usually enough to start the conversation.
